Too funny!

I was wondering what I was going to write about Danielle in this blog now that Samantha is the one doing all the new things. Then last night I went in to check on her...she had her light on and was sprawled out on top of her covers with her boots on! I was cracking up and hurried out to tell Jeff and grab the camera.

Not too much is new with us, just normal toddler and newborn stuff. I'm starting to feel so much better which makes life a lot easier. I am thankful that so far Samantha is a very easy baby. On the weekends Jeff gets up with Danielle around 7:00 and I get to sleep in another hour or more which is wonderful.

Danielle still seems to be doing well adjusting to her new little sister. Once in awhile she will either do a fake cry or cry a little longer/louder than normal. I'm sure she hears Samantha crying and is trying it out to see what we'll do. We do give her as much attention as we possibly can but I'm sure she's noticed that our time is now a bit divided!

Well, naptime is almost over so I better get this posted and see if I can accomplish something in my last minutes of free time.

First Bath and a Two Week Update

Samantha's umbilical cord finally fell off and she was able to have her first real bath. She didn't cry at all! Then I wrapped her in her cute little froggy towel and Jeff took our picture.

So far Samantha is a pretty easy baby. She has some fussy times in the evening but that is to be expected. She sleeps about 3 hours at a time at night, usually awake at 12:00, 3:00 and 6:00 to eat and then right back to sleep. Works for me...especially now that I am feeling better and getting in and out of bed isn't so painful.

I am not as good about taking pictures as I was with Danielle. Now I understand that it's not because you love your 2nd child less, it's because you are more than twice as busy! Once the kitchen is somewhat clean, the living room is picked up (maybe), the diapers are changed, and everyone is fed, you will find me doing some of my favorite things like reading books with Danielle, snuggling with my daughters, watching Jeff tickle and play with Danielle, etc. I'll admit it's a very demanding job, but there is no way you could drag me away from it!

These days my rewards are Samantha's warm, snuggly body falling asleep on my chest; Danielle saying, "I love you too much Mommy"; and Jeff giving me a back rub because he appreciates me. That's all I need.

Well, it's naptime so I'll see if I can catch a few zzz's.

Samantha's first week at home

Here are a few of my favorite photos taken this week. I would love to write more but I need to get some sleep! Jeff went back to work today so I had my first day as a stay-at-home-mom of 2 kids. It was a little exhausting (mostly because I'm sore and can't do a lot of things because of the c-section) but really, really wonderful. I wouldn't trade this job for any other in the world. Danielle is my little helper and just makes the little things so much fun. I'll be sure to post more details later. I need to get some rest since Samantha is sleeping. One o'clock in the morning will be here soon! Good night!

It's A Girl!!

Our precious new family member is another daughter! Her name is Samantha Joy Miller. We were so anxious to meet her...now she is here and we can't believe how blessed we are. There were so many pictures taken at the hospital it was hard to choose which to post. This one of the 4 of us is my favorite. Samantha is just hours old. Danielle was at the hospital waiting with our families while I had the c-section. Samantha was born on Wednesday, January 14th at 8:03 a.m. She weighed 8lb. 14oz. and was 21 inches long. Apparently one of Danielle's first comments when she first saw Samantha was "take baby 'Mantha home, Daddy?" I was glad to hear that!

We were thankful for all of the family that came to share in Samantha's birth. Jeff's mom and sisters came for a few days and helped so much with Danielle while we were at the hospital. Danielle did great without me but I think she was happy when Daddy brought me home and brought her little sister, too!

My Gram came to be here for Samantha's birth, too. Here is a cute photo of me with my family members our first day home. I love how Danielle and Samantha are looking at each other in this one. My family also helped with Danielle and kept me company while I was in the hospital. My brother is not in this photo but he was at the hospital and kept me laughing (ouch!) during his visits.

Daddy and his girls. In this picture Danielle had just woken up from her nap and she went to the living room to see her baby sister napping on Daddy. I wondered how she would react. She just climbed up into Daddy's lap and laid her head on the other shoulder. Very, very precious. The hard part is finding the time to take all the cute pictures and write down all the neat things we never want to forget.

Well, I'm sure there will be zillions more photos taken so I'll do my best to post them on a regular basis. Meanwhile, know that we are enjoying this time with our little girls... there are lots of loads of pink laundry, plenty of diaper changes, and sometimes I forget to feed myself, but it really doesn't get any better than this. We thank God for all He has given us and we hope our daughters grow up knowing that He made them, loves them, and will always be there for them. We are thankful that He gave us the precious gift of being their parents!
