Grandma & Kayleen visit

Danielle had a blast this Memorial Day weekend with a visit from Grandma & Auntie Kayleen. They were amazed at how much she had grown since December. Auntie Kayleen picked out a "Bitty Baby" for Danielle at the American Girl Place. Danielle loved it and hugged Kayleen right away. I knew they would bond quickly. Once she got over the excitement of the new baby doll she started showing all that she could to Grandma and Kayleen. By the end of the weekend she would call Grandma "MaaMaa" and Kayleen "Alee" which was pretty neat. It was great for them to see Danielle in her own environment and get a taste of her everyday life.

Mother's Day

We had a wonderful weekend celebrating Mother's Day. I thanked God about a million times for making me a mother. I am so blessed. Daddy & Danielle made the day very special for me. We went to church, then to a lunch BBQ at our friends house (my parents were out of town), then home where we all took a nap, had dinner, and went for a long evening walk. It was a wonderful day. I will post a photo of the 3 of us on Mother's Day. Someone told Danielle to do "peek-a-boo" so she did and we got a cute photo of us all laughing.

This week Danielle has decided she is a big girl. She likes playing with older kids, especially her friends Halliday & Grace. She loves to say "Halliday" and give both of them hugs. Twice a month we go to MOPS (Mothers of Pre-Schoolers) and the kids go into a separate room while the mom's listen to a speaker, visit, etc. Danielle has always stayed with me and not been too happy with the other kids. Well, this week she discovered that room has baby dolls, a stroller, and lots of other toys to explore. She did not mind at all that I left her! I was thrilled and then got a little lump in my throat thinking that she must be getting to be a big girl and no longer my little baby. It was great that she just one day was ready.

Baby chicks!

Recently our friends next door got baby chicks. We were invited over to see them and at first Danielle was nervous but then she thought they were neat. We have always taught her to "pat" dogs so that she doesn't pull on them, etc, so she started to "pat" the chick. Her patting is a little rough for a baby chick so we worked on being gentle and patting more softly.
